Vocation Prayer Calendar
In 2000, our bishop, Sean O'Malley, wrote, "Our quest for vocations in the Church is a spiritual one. We need to storm heaven with our prayers." One way to do this is by praying for vocations daily. The diocese provides a monthly calendar that can be printed and placed inside a prayer book or Bible as a reminder to pray for our seminarians and the different groups who minister within our diocese. Parishes and individuals may wish to make their own vocation calendar. Here are some ideas: Include the names of the eight current diocesan seminarians: Jason Brilhante, Deacon David Deston, Deacon Ronnie Floyd, Peter Fournier, Daniel Nunes, Chris Peschel, Deacon William Sylvia, Riley Williams. Include the Vocation staff of the Diocese: Fr. Karl Bissinger and Fr. Kevin Cook; and the Deanery Coordinators: Fr. Dariusz Kalinowski and Fr. John Murray. Include a day for Pope Benedict XVI and Bishop George Coleman. Include a day for each of the parish priests and permanent deacons. Here are some intentions to fill in the other days: For the priests of our diocese, for the religious of our diocese, for all consecrated persons, for those discerning a vocation, for an increase in vocations, for the youth of our parish, for the deacons of our diocese, for parents to encourage vocations.
