Vocation Intercessions: Summer Ordinary Time 2009

Sunday, June 21, 2009 – Twelfth Sunday in Ordinary Time
That we may have the courage to live no longer for ourselves but for Christ, even if he calls us to a life of devoted service in the priesthood or consecrated life, we pray to the Lord.

Sunday, June 28, 2009 – Thirteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
For our parish, that we continue to actively invite men and women in our midst to share their gifts and energy with the Church as they each discern their vocation, we pray to the Lord.

Sunday, July 5, 2009 – Fourteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
For the religious of our diocese - sisters, brothers, priests - that they may be blessed in their life of consecration to the Lord and to his Church, we pray to the Lord.

Sunday, July 12, 2009 – Fifteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
For the Parish Vocations Committees and Prayer Teams of our diocese that they will grow in appreciation of the task entrusted to them, and that the seeds of awareness they plant will grow to maturity through prayer and care, we pray to the Lord.

Sunday, July 19, 2009 – Sixteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
That as a parish we may recognize that "We are the Lord's" and always seek to do God's will as we each discern our vocation under the leadership of our shepherd, Bishop George Coleman, we pray to the Lord.

Sunday, July 26, 2009 – Seventeenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
For the Seminarians of our Diocese and the priests who work with them. That their summer assignments will bear great fruit as they prepare for a new academic year, we pray to the Lord.

Sunday, August 2, 2009 – Eighteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
That during this Year for Priests, all priests may recommit themselves to a life of service to the People of God by the example of Saint John Vianney whose feast day we celebrate this week, we pray to the Lord.

For blessing on all God's priests, that they will more and more be conformed to the radiant image of God's Son and inspire many young men to offer their lives in the service of the Church, we pray to the Lord.

Sunday, August 23, 2009 – Twenty-first Sunday in Ordinary Time
For all our seminarians preparing for priestly service in our diocese, that they may persevere in their studies and preparation for ministry, and that their families will be blessed at the beginning of this new academic year, we pray to the Lord.

Sunday, August 30, 2009 – Twenty-second Sunday in Ordinary Time
We remember those whose vocation it is to be single: may they be loved and supported by their community, and empowered to share their gifts, time and resources generously with others, we pray to the Lord.

That the example of the priests who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, especially Fr. Edward Grogan, C.S.C. who worked in our own diocese, may inspire the hearts of young men to consider a life of service in the priesthood, we pray to the Lord.

Sunday, September 13, 2009 – Twenty-fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time
We remember all young adults as they search for their vocational path: may they have the support, courage and openness to search earnestly for the vocation that will enable them to grow to that fullness of life which the Lord offers to each of us, we pray to the Lord.

Sunday, September 20, 2009 – Twenty-fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time
As we celebrate National Catechetical Sunday, may all catechists commit themselves to teaching and promoting the value of religious vocations to their students, we pray to the Lord.

Sunday, September 27, 2009 – Twenty-sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time
For those whom you have called to the vocation of marriage: may they be faithful to their commitment and, through the love they have for one another, enable others to know that they are your disciples, we pray to the Lord.

We remember those who are rearing families: may they nurture faith, prayer and love for the Lord, and cultivate an environment in which each of the Christian vocations is valued and explored as a possibility for their children’s future, we pray to the Lord.

For those whom God is inviting to serve the Church through the religious life or priesthood: may they respond confidently and wholeheartedly to your call, and receive the support of their families, friends and parish community, we pray to the Lord.

Sunday, October 18, 2009 – Twenty-ninth Sunday in Ordinary Time (World Mission Sunday)
That missionaries will live their vocation to follow Jesus with joy and enthusiasm, and may their example attract more young men and women to offer their lives in service to those who are in need all over the world, we pray to the Lord.

Sunday, October 29, 2009 – Thirtieth Sunday in Ordinary Time (Priesthood Sunday USA)
On this Priesthood Sunday USA, we pray for all our parish priests, that they will be men of devout faith, fervent prayer, and unfailing self-sacrifice, we pray to the Lord.

Sunday, November 1, 2009 – All Saints Day
That the lives of the saints may serve as a witness to the beauty of a life of service to God that will inspire young people to heed the Lord's call to the priesthood and consecrated life, we pray to the Lord.

Monday, November 2, 2009 – Commemoration of all the Faithful Departed (All Souls)
For all the deceased clergy and religious of our Diocese who spent their lives in the service of the Church. May they receive the reward of their faithful service in the Kingdom of Heaven, we pray to the Lord.

Sunday, November 8, 2009 – Thirty-second Sunday in Ordinary Time
That God will bring about in the Church many new vocations to the priesthood and consecrated life, and that the Lord will bless and guide the work of our diocesan vocation directors, we pray to the Lord.

Sunday, November 16, 2009 – Thirty-third Sunday in Ordinary Time
For bishops, priests, deacons, and seminarians: that they will be men of steadfast integrity, purity, courage, and devotion, we pray to the Lord.

Sunday, November 23, 2009 – Christ the King
That all young people may listen to the voice of the King who may be calling them to the priesthood and consecrated life, we pray to the Lord.
